About Reverend Sarah Taylor Peck & This Blog

I serve as Senior Minister of Community Christian Church in North Canton, Oh. I was called in January 2014 to this new position and it is a great fit. We are a cheerful, energized, joyful congregation that welcomes strangers as friends. We have programs for children, youth, adults, and seniors. We pray together, we laugh together, and we hope you will visit us soon! On Sunday mornings, we worship at 10am and you can expect to meet about 200 of your new friends on an average Sunday morning in worship. Come and see us!

Before accepting the call to Community Christian Church, I served as Associate Minister at Lindenwood Christian Church in Memphis, TN. I began serving in September 2010. My work at Lindenwood included preaching, leading worship, and pastoral care.

I’m originally from Spokane, Washington. I attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, and Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, MA.

My husband, Andrew, is also a Disciples of Christ Minister and he serves as the senior minister of Trinity United Church of Christ in Canton, OH.

When we’re not at our churches, we love to picnic, bike, sit on our back deck, and hang out with our dog Moses and our kids.

This blog is called “Ordaining Sarah” because I believe my ministry is always in formation, my call is always being renewed and nudged on my journey as a pastor. Barbara Brown Taylor writes in her book The Preaching Life: “If my own experience can be trusted, then God does not call us once but many times. There are calls to faith and calls to ordination, but in between there are calls to particular communities and calls to particular tasks within them–calls into and out of relationships as well as calls to seek God wherever God may be found.”

On this blog, I continue to reflect on the daily calls on my spirit, my heart and my ministry. This is a place where I post my reflections, prayers, and writings from my ministry. Enjoy!

  1. I just happened to trip over this website. What a blessing! I’m going to spread the blessing out to friends now. Peace

  2. Sarah, I think I need to find a way to make a new name since my blog address is literally my name. but I love your site and you have made such a wonderful impact on a church I grew up in. And Happy birthday I heard they celebrated at prayer ministry on Monday.

  3. Sarah, wish we had “found” you while you were still at Lindenwood in Memphis. We are very happy that you are now ministering to the lovely folks at Community Christian Church in North Canton, a church where my parents-in-law (Pansy and LeRoy Croye) were very actively involved. You are a great inspiration and have provided me with small and large graces with your gifts of poetic observation and insightful faith. Thank you, Jean Croye
